Beyblade X: Complete #1 Breakdown & Buying Guide

Beyblade X introduces a new way to play Beyblade bringing with it a new generation of Beys and characters in manga form. Takara Tomy is now referring to their game as "Gear Sports" and are marketing it exclusively on a brand new official Youtube Channel. Takara Tomy is also promoting the new gear sports game to be played in a new WBBA 3G format since they offer a deck box for each player to keep 3 of their beys in when going to an event. The official Japanese websites advertise the new formats as B4 and S1.

In events, players will score in the following ways:

• 1 point for spin finish

• 2 points for a burst finish

• 2 points for over finish (KO into one of the two corner pockets)

• 3 points for Extreme finish if you KO the bey into the large middle pocket, falling out of the arena

Beyblade X Stadium

The new Beyblade X stadium has an “eXtreme Dash” mechanic that makes attacking easier than before. There is now a gear cog lining on one side of the stadium. This interlocks with the gear cogs on the new Beyblade’s bit, and it sends the Beyblade X along the gear lining of the stadium, guiding it to the center to make a strong attack if all goes right.

This is not 100% guaranteed, however, since your combo might not fully catch on the gear lining or might fly off in a random direction. Either way, it’s a fun, aggressive, and explosive gimmick!

X Launchers

The new Beyblade X launcher now has three hook tab prongs to lock the Bey into place. This should make for more of a secure connection, making it far easier to launch. Currently, there are two types of launchers; the standard rip cord and the standard string launchers.

The only available spin direction is right-spin, although it’s safe to assume we’ll see left-spin and dual-spin launchers in the future.

There is also an available Battle Pass connection (seen on the picture in the right launcher) that connects to an app that measures launch power and number of shots, and will earn you points at events. This might not be available in the US and might be a Japanese exclusive feature.

Beyblade X Parts Breakdown

Beyblade X now uses a much simpler parts system, using only three different types. 

1. Blade

2. Ratchet

3. Bit

By breaking it down into smaller parts, the new system will be much easier and new-player friendly to the series. Customization will also be limited at the beginning, but this will also ensure the game has a nice entry-point and will be able to be learned quickly. Each complete combo has a data stats rating of:

• Attack

• Defense

• Stamina

• Dash: The higher the number, the fast and stronger the attack when the bey uses the gear cog xtreme rail.

• Burst: It appears that the higher this number, the more burst resistant it is. The lower the number, the easier it will burst.

• BX-07 Start Dash Set: This set is the best place to start with since you get the stadium with black gear rail, Dransword Bey, and the String launcher. *Note: This is the only way to get a string launcher in the first wave of Beyblade X products.

After you get the starter dash set with stadium and string launcher, you can move on to buying the starter sets that include a ripcord launcher and are the basic colors of the beys that appear in the manga:

• BX-02 Hellsscythe 4-60T Starter Set: This is the starting balance-type red Bey combo and ripcord launcher.

• BX-03 Wizardarrow 4-80B Starter Set: This is the starting stamina-type yellow Bey combo and ripcord launcher.

• BX-04 Knightshield 3-80N Starter Set: This is the starting defense-type green Bey combo and ripcord launcher.

To complete your collection of beys, and widen your variety of customization, you can purchase the booster packs that have different colored bey combos only (no launcher):

• BX-05 Wizardarrow 4-80B Booster: This is the starting stamina-type red recolor Bey only combo (no launcher).

• BX-06 Knightshield 3-80N Booster: This is the starting attack-type blue recolor Bey only combo (no launcher).

Takara Tomy is also offering a 3-Bey boxed set that contains recolored versions of Hellsscythe, Wizardarrow, and Knightshield:

• BX-08 3on3 Deck Battle Set: This 3-pack booster contains a yellow recolor Hellsscythe, green recolor Wizardarrow, and red recolor Knightshield (no-launcher).

Finally, you can opt to make your own combinations to mix and match a separate arena and beys, and also accessorize with the following:

• BX-10 Beyblade X Xtreme Stadium: This is the standard stadium with a green gear rail.

• BX-11 Launcher Grip: This makes it easier to hold your launchers when attached together (available only in black currently).

• BX-12 3on3 Deck Case: You can organize up to 3 Beyblades into this box (no Beyblades included).
