The new 4th generation Beyblade X series is off to a great start, so let's examine some of its elements further!
Takara Tomy has shared lofty goals for Beyblade X to be a worldwide gear sports hobby, but that will never be realized unless the system is readily available in the USA. In Japan, events and tournaments are being prepared to take advantage of the BX-09 Battlepass and an app, so let's hope they become compatible in the USA ASAP!
And let's not forget about the new Beyblade stations that offer Xtreme reality integration and spectacular special effects.
So far, there's been no official word as to what Hasbro's involvement will be with Beyblade once their Quad Strike series ends, or if they'll be continuing the Beyblade license. Chances are, Hasbro will want to hold on to one of their profitable brands, but if they try and make their own plastic versions of the metal X beys and their own story, it might completely fail. The question remains, will Hasbro simply release Takara Tomy products in the USA under a different line like they've done with the Pro Series and Metal Legends?
The first issue that has fans concerned is how the "Road to 25th" remasters are performing. Although some complained about the remakes of previous gen beys during the Burst series being weaker than Burst beys, this was acceptable since the remakes weren't advertised to be played directly against the newer Burst gen (other than maybe Driger V2). But bladers might have missed the fact that the remakes were better enjoyed if they were played in their own class against each other and other similar weighing beys.
With the release of the metal release of Dranzer S, bladers were excited to see how the remake would perform since it was made with a metal blade alongside parts of the new Xtreme gear sports system. However, many fans were disappointed in Dranzer's poor performance and relatively light weight, which hurt its overall performance. As a balance-type, it's too light compared to Scythe which is the current benchmark for balance-type blades. Lightweight is actually an advantage for stamina beys, but Dranzer S has another problem, the blade is too unbalanced to be good at stamina. This might change with future ratchets or bits, but for now, it topples over too quickly. Finally, light weight can benefit attack-types in the Burst series by allowing for more mobility, but lightweight is a negative for Beyblade X since the stadium helps provide extra mobility. Therefore, it's more important for attack-types to have more weight so they can attack with more power from the stadium's Xtreme gear.
One last thing to consider: would Takara Tomy purposely weaken remakes from previous generations? In other words, would it hurt the Beyblade X brand and story if the most popular and competitive beys were all remakes and not the newer designs? It might not be in Takara Tomy's best interest for players to be using older remakes instead of the new beys belonging to the new characters and the system.
There's no denying that the stadium gimmick works and adds the extra punch to make Beyblade even more extreme! Although it's a wild card that adds further unpredictability to a competitive meta, this actually helps ensure that the meta stays wide open. The downside to a meta is that the game gets stale very fast because no one wants to get creative with new combos. Players can get stuck using the same parts over and over. Beyblade X will help keep the meta filled with variety and is the most beginner-friendly series yet.
This is the perfect time to start playing Beyblade since the beys are simpler and more streamlined.
The extreme stadium means that attacking is super easy and gives an advantage to attack types combinations.
"Beyblade X bursts with tons of fast-flying strong-attacking fun!"
These critiques are meant to provide healthy feedback for Takara Tomy in hopes that Beyblade X reaches more players, and bladers continue to enjoy Dynamite Battle and the Burst series while it's still available. Both series can co-exist since Burst was their most popular and successful series ever and provides a unique and different experience from Beyblade X.
Like all of you, we're all excited for what the future holds for Beyblade X. Just like the burst series, it seems safe to assume that the parts and beys will evolve over time. How much is not certain since the stadium does dictate how all bits must be, unless they start releasing bits without any gears that lock onto the xtreme dash gimmick.
